Default nail trimming.

Jocardi's nails are getting quite long despite her having pits to scratch and things to climb. Last night we noticed a tiny scratch on her tail, i think she may have done it herself when grooming, but obviously i'll keep an eye on it. I think its time to take her to have her nails trimmed so i shall ask around about local vets.
But.....im worried. Shes a placid girl.....but how stressed do they get when having their nails trimmed. Does it cause them much discomfort? X

I was doing a little research and found this is quite informative : How to trim Nails?! - General Care & Health - Hamster Hideout Forum it's normal for hamsters nails to get quite long. If you can't do it yourself then just try putting rocks under her water bottle and she will stand on the rocks to get to the water, the rocks might help to trim! Otherwise I would just try taking her to the vets.

Thanx for that. 😊 she has terracotta pots to scratch but doesnt seem to scratch them as much these days. Ive put some hammy litter in a tray in the corner now. I shall have to put her sand bottle back in too...that will help. But i think this time she may need to be trimmed x

I was just searching for nails and found this thread, yesterday I noticed one of my robos has quite long nails. I was wondering if I could put some sand paper or something rough in the cage and see if it helped. Rocks under the water bottle sounds like a good idea.
