I too had a hard time with Hetty as she was extremely aggressive at the beginning! I rescued her from the petstore and she was literally screaming with anger while bar chewing! It was awful to look at. I too went and bought her Alexander to give her best possible home...It took a while for her to settle as she was not treated well in the Petstore. I also discovered why she was so scared..she is blind. So we had our fair share of not very cuddly times together, but our hams are who they are ,they all have different traits and personalities and that is what is so endearing eventhough they can have ability to drive you to be your helpless self..Like when you do so much for them and they still act like...nah,I don't care. I love Hetty to bits though, she is one cute tough cookie who dismantles everything that I put on her upper level! I mean everything. She drags everything on her bottom level. And reorganizes even her bendy bridges and dishes..Size doesn't matter,SHE IS the interior designer, not me!
Your ham might end up being most amazing that you will never forget!

Thank you all for your stories. It brings me great comfort in knowing that I'm not alone. Each of your stories give me a relief that it's OK and that we've all been there. So thank you all so very much.

Aria has been doing better. This morning she was trying to chew on the plexiglass but got mad that she couldn't move it. Eventually she went of to dig all around her detolf and found a shelled peanut I had buried for her. She did however seem a bit scared so I'm positive now that she doesn't feel completely safe yet. I guess that will come with time.

It seems like the plexiglass might work but we'll see. Fingers crossed.

I do love Aria. She really is a sweet little hamster. I'm really glad I came to my senses before giving her up. I would've really regretted it and never forgiven myself. She's got nothing to worry about now. She's got her forever home with me.

I would love to try some good tea from the UK. I'd have to check the cost of postage from the UK to the US first. Moving across states has taken a huge chunk of my savings. But yes, if you're serious then I might be interested in taking you up on your kind offer, just send me a PM.

If tea cant fix it then its a serious problem... hang in there and little Aria will come through.

Have you seen the gerbil tanks that have mess at top and a glass tank below for sawdust?

Yorshire tea is one of the best

A word of warning about the tea.....manufacturers mix tea to suit the water type in the area in which the tea is sold, so sending tea even from one area to another in the UK can result in a very different taste!

How Yorkshire tea is made
Read the paragraph just above the photograph.

I hope Aria soon begins to relax and enjoy her lovely new home and that you too, Oatmeal-CC, can also begin to feel less stressed but give yourselves and Aria time, it's a big change that you've undergone and you all need time to adjust and feel settled.

Hey!

Yep, things have been going good with Aria. She's still reclusive but then again she's always been that way. Umm, but ya, she's settled in nicely. I bought her some more bendy bridges and lots of hidey-holes. She seems much more at home.

Good to hear that Aria has settled much more. I'm sure she is enjoying all the new bendy bridges, even if she is doing it whilst you are fast asleep at night.

Well done for persevering.

Hee hee, I'm a wee bit of a night owl so I do get to see her enjoy her home. Hamsters are so perfect for my lifestyle. Last night I stayed up till 5am. Right now it's almost 2am and I've got no intention of heading to bed just yet. hee hee.

And thank you!

Hi Oatmeal_Cupcake.

Just been reading through Aria's thread and Aria reminds me of at least 2 of my previous hamsters, Chaos and Pepper and pretty much every single one of my gerbils (I had 8 in the past). Several times I thought I wanted to take them to the shelter and leave them there, but then I'll look at their little faces and swoon lol. I just took to wearing soft earplugs at night, as all the animals I have live in my bedroom, and I was able to get some decent sleep and they were left to their own devices....although Nutmeg and Spice (my first 2 gerbils) were forever escaping, and I hadn't looked about getting them a glass tank at that point...took me about 6 months to realise it. And as soon as I did....no problems...and that tank lasted until I lost my last hamster, Chaos.

I did take a couple of years old from getting small furries, but then Romeo (my black/white little pensioner - as I call him lol) turned up and I have fallen in love with getting them again. Already planning the list for my next one....as Romeo's tank is really small, although Romeo loves it lol.

I hope things do settle with Aria. She's just showing how much "spunk" she has lol. Plus the others are right, a nice decent cup of tea settles everything!!!

Looking forward to reading more about Aria, and I hope that the house move goes smoothly for you.

Mweekie xx
