Re: Soda escaped!
I to have had escapees loose for up to 4 weeks at this house, and know of one gal who had one loose for over a month. Hamsters are quite able to survive on their own, and often collect water from condensation on water pipes. IF your wheel is a solid one like a Wodent Wheel type it can be a great escape from the cats should she have gotten into another part of the house via the floor boards. I often use a WW as a alarm system of a Hamster using it by placing a few hard bits of food from the dry mix(whole corn or the hard kibble bits works best). That way when they run you hear the racket loud and clear and can simply collect the escapee and return to it's cage.
You also don't want to put out too much food or your hamster will be quite happy living in the largest cage in it's life. So make sure it has water but not too much water, and food but not too much food where she can collect food and have easy access to water as she would in her proper cage or it may take many days to finally catch her.
Always think positive even when it seems hopeless. I know it is hard to do that but you must quit all the negative talk and speak as if you know she is there just playing hard to catch because she has this huge huge cage to enjoy.

Re: Soda escaped!
Look around the edges of your room to see if there is any holes, my hamster escaped yesterday and we found out that she had bit through the wooden floor boards and got stuck in a hole under the floor boards, we found her safe , if this doesn't work try the bucket trap , do this by stacking books, game boxes etc up, until there at a reasonable height and then put a bucket at the end, with something soft at the bottom and on the top so when soda climbs it she won't injure herself and then get little treats or pieces of food and make a trail going up the stacks of books etc to make her fall into the bucket xxxx put food in the bottom of the bucket too xxx

Re: Soda escaped!
Kitty, keep positive. Like the others have said and from their own experience they can survive.
