Did the substrate fall out? Just kidding
don't panic about your hamster, 9/10 they find somewhere dark, in beds, under drawers, holes in the wall etc. I would only have food in one area, get the favourite food, some smelly food is good, take a PIC on your phone so you remember what the pile looked like, usually they take a good wack away with them.
Wait till it starts to get dark, only have a lamp on so its not to bright, quite often they will just wander about along the edges of walls, beds , units etc so keep the skirtings clear except for traps or houses they can investigate.
Watch and wait, if no joy and you need bed don't stress, go to bed. In the morning check the pile, if its taken food then be reassured its still alive, if you don't catch soda the next night chances are it's fine, just repeat the same process till you catch him/her, its just a waiting game, don't work your self up, every hamster that went walkies I've got back thankfully.
Don't plug any holes up in case that's where soda is hiding. Where do you know is dark? Sometimes dark with a draught atrracts them
All the best
