what breed are these?
Hopefully I attached correctly. There is someone local listing two hamsters. She says that they are only together when she cleans the cages. And they came together. Would like to know their breed and if they would be able to live together?

Re: what breed are these?
Hello there!
Congratulations on your two new hamsters, and managing to upload a picture first try!
You have two Roborovskis there, and yes, they can live together, if they are used to eachother and have lived together in the past. If they begin to fight you will need to separate them so you may want to keep a spare cage. Goodluck on your hamstery journey!

Re: what breed are these?
She puts them together during cleaning? Why did she separate them in the first place? If I were you I'd ask the current owner why they were separated and if she knows for sure what genders they are. Hopefully they're the same sex. If they've been fighting then they shouldn't be put together at all I'm afraid.

Re: what breed are these?
If you do get them you should definitely check their genders. They can live together, but a lot of them may still fight especially if they are from separate litters. They would be better off living separately as they have been for a while, moving together may cause fights over territory, which has a chance of ending in death.

Re: what breed are these?
I probably won't get them sadly. She's been posting for a while but wants to sell them with their cages, but their cage seems fairly small. What is the current recomended floor space for them? I need a response as to why I will refuse to spend money on a cage that is too small.

Okay. She says that they were put in different rooms because each kid wanted it in their own room. And she has no idea on the gender. They have only been owned for a few months.

If they don't normally live together I'd strongly suggest keeping them separately I'm afraid

Can you tell her what size cage you have for them to set her mind at ease?

Re: what breed are these?
As far as recommended space goes... For a pair it varies from 60cm by 40cm to at least 75cm by 45cm, which depends who you ask. For a single robo it tends to vary from 55cm by 40cm through to 70cm by 40cm or bigger.
We use a converted IKEA SAMLA box (the biggest) for our robo Rufus at the moment and thats working out to be the perfect cage for him
Maybe just tell the woman you already have a bigger cage for them?

Re: what breed are these?
I had told her that I don't need the cages as I already have some. She still said no and wanted 35$ each. So that's not going to happen. Explaned why I can't get them and the recomended minimum sized cage. Haven't heard back since.
