Re: A new home for my second hamster?
Love is limitless, it feeds on itself. I can see not liking it, though. I've been in both situations.... a lone rodent getting all the attention, and more than one.....and fuzz love never seemed to run dry either way. I did find that a second ham made me appreciate the personality of the first more, since they are so different. Now there are times when I really feel more at ease with one or the other depending on their mood, and I am less likely to inflict my mood on the one....whether it wants it or not.

Re: A new home for my second hamster?
I'm not sure here if the problem is you or the landlord, bit confused sorry! If two is definitely a problem with the landlord then, sad as it may be it's probably better to try to find a good home for your second ham. Other than that all I can say is I was always a one pet person & never thought I'd want more than one but now I have three & there's plenty of love to go around, a bit of a stretch when they all want it at once lol! but no one misses out

Re: A new home for my second hamster?
I would get the second one. You've broken the main barrier with the Landlord by him accepting you having a pet (which is a lot less of a nuisance pet than say a dog who chews things). If he happens to notice you now have two you could say - it had a baby and they're both potty trained. Ok, that's lying - but if you're on the spot! I haven't asked permission to have a pet where we are. They know, but there are no bad smells and we are good tenants, so they are turning a blind eye.
But I do see the point - two hamsters = two cages - starting to look like a menagerie?! And he might think it would lead to 3 or more .........How about a bin cage for the second one? He might not realise it was a hamster cage.

Re: A new home for my second hamster?
are you told when they are coming around, if so could you move one out to a friend while they are there or just hide it as previously stated, if your worried about not having enough time to clean two cages, play with two hamsters then I would recommend you rehome as its kinder for the hamster, but you will make time if you decide to keep the second one, or just be honest and tell the landlord and true to yourself about weather it is right for you to have two.

So what are you going to do about it? You don't seem too sure in your post.
I'm sure the landlord won't mind, it's not as if they're cats or dogs.
You made the mistake of taking the dwarf home, you get attached.
I hope you do keep it, keep us informed of your decision .
