Charlie is getting a stocking (a red and white sock) with some shrimp cookies, a brain toy thing and some little heart treats. And some Christmas dinner. There will only be two of us for Christmas dinner this year so we tend to get a couple of Partridges - one each - they are SO tasty and the local Christmas market sells them just before Christmas. I assume game is ok to give to hammies.

That made me laugh lots, I can just imagine the girls getting really excited opening up a door on the calendar, to hear them "ooo" and "ahh" over pictures of broccoli and the hamster nativity.
Not having had an advent calendar myself until last year at the grand age of erm 43 (shh, whisper that part, please) I wanted to buy the girls calendars but as Soufle said, they are not suitable for all fluffs and mine fall into that category, so I think I'll give them a miss but they will get presents. It's my first christmas with my girls, in fact with any pet family so I think I can spoil them.
None of mine are chewers but I've seen some lovely Christmas themed wood chews and other things, so I'll probably make up mini stockings for each and then buy a joint present for the playpen, although Aspen will get something in individual for her tank, being a robo.
I'm out on Christmas day and then going out for lunch, so not much chance of a hammie bag from the restaurant but I'll make them something tasty. We'll have our Christmas when I get home, then they'll be awake but hopefully there will be some Christmas morning cuddles.

Re: Do you buy your hamsters christmas presents?
Charlie kind of had Christmas last night. My viovet parcel arrived. As he does virtually nothing in his cage at the moment apart from eat, sleep and run on his wheel I though he needed something to make it more playful and something hanging from the roof or a tunnel, so had got a 10cm cardboard tube, and some sisal tubes/nest with sisal string to tie to the top of the cage and an antos toothbrush and crocodile, plus a dangly colourful loofah toy thing and a lava ledge. I got him out of the cage at bedtime onto his usual blanket on the sofa and put the tube, lava ledge, chews and dangling thing out for him and he had a bit of a play with them, then curled up in the corner of the blanket and went to sleep! I though hamsters were supposed to be awake at midnight! Anyway I thought, now he has played with them they will smell of him so I'll put them in the cage while he is asleep. The Sisal tunnels were no good - had too many sharp bits inside, so I took the string off them and made holes in the cardboard tube and hung that from the roof with one end at an entrance to his big sputnik (he sometimes jumps from there and it is too high) and the other end near the roof of his house so he had a high level tunnel from his sputnik to his house roof (been watching the video on making toys with toilet rolls!), put the lava ledge in the empty corner and hung the dangly thing, then roused him and popped him back in his cage.
As usual I have done it a bit wrong! He loved going backwards and forwards through the tube, but it now means there is less height under it for him to climb onto his house roof from the bendy stick bridge. He gave me a bit of a look as if to say - what!
For reference, these are the sisal tubes (wasted my money there)

Unfortunately they had some quite hard pointy bits inside - I pulled some out but I think chewing them could hurt their mouth or feet as too pointy and scratchy in places. Still the string was useful!
And this is the dangly thing

Re: Do you buy your hamsters christmas presents?
This is my hams first Christmas . We are very excited to celebrate with them this year. Yes, we buy gifts, and I will be setting up an Ham size Christmas tree in their room. Our dogs and foster pets will also get presents.

I got Tyrion the Trixie advent calendar as it has different treats in it, not all yogurt or chocolate drops.

I doubt I'll be able to resist buying him some toys and treat. Maybe I'll make him up a little stocking for Christmas day.
