Well...I've gone from 1 Syrian to 4 in the space of a week
I picked up my fluffy baby last Saturday, Oh and his name is Sven And then today I rescued 2 hammies that were living in the same cage until recently
They're both girls. I've called them Toffee and Cocoa. They were so hungry that the first thing they did was eat, the second thing Toffee did was go on the wheel(huge rat wheel) Cocoa hasn't been on the wheel yet as I only had an 8 inch spare and it's too small so I will have to get another one. I've left it in in case she wants to try it later. The cages they were in were tiny. They were in one to begin with(the small blue one on the left) but she separated them finally when they began fighting. They had hardly any substrate or food. They did have some toys and water.Toffee is thinner than Cocoa, so she'll be getting some extra food for a while I think. Toffee is more adventurous and keeps climbing on top of the wheel. I am getting 2 new cages for them as the ones I have are not quite big enough-only 60 cm length and I like them to have 80cm. Not sure how old they are as the ad said 20 months, the description said 18, and the lady today said a year.LOL
Would you like some pictures?
The bottom cage is a Barney, the top left was Toffee's cage, the yellow one was Cocoa's.Both tiny.
Here is Toffee
And here is Cocoa
What colours are they both please?

Toffee looks like a golden banded and and Cocoa a sable banded. I remember seeing the advert for these as I was going to help get them if no one else did.
Hopefully they are living separately now?

Congratulations! They're beautiful and probably so grateful that you've given them their own space
Not great with colours but isn't the second one a sable banded? I think the spectacles are telltale. The first one, maybe a golden banded?

Re: Well...I've gone from 1 Syrian to 4 in the space of a week
Oh gosh yes they are seperate-Toffee is in an old rat cage for now which she can't stay in as it's too high(have put hammocks in) and Cocoa is in a Savic Cambridge as she's not as active. It's the old cages that are in the pics. I have ordered them 2 savic ruffy's as I don't ike to have Syrians in under 80cm cages. The Cambridge is only 60cm, and the rat cage is 70 which would be ok but it's soooo tall I don't want to use it permanently. I need to get 2 wheels as well as the rat wheel is enormous, and the only other one I have is only 8 inches.

What does that mean ?
They are beautiful aren't they? And so gentle. I don't think they've ever had any fruit or veg -they had some spaghetti today and some cucumber and they didn't know what to do with it at first.

Umbrous is 'sooty' looking. Instead of being a solid golden colour she has darker bits

Re: Well...I've gone from 1 Syrian to 4 in the space of a week
Umbrous is a mutation - it gives the fur ticking. Goldens already have some ticking in their fur, but the ticking in an umbrous golden makes the cheek flashes/belly have the ticking too so instead of being the usual 'ivory' it's supposed to be, it's a darker grey.
I have an umbrous golden too - lovely colour
