I cant see the pics but im sure he's a lovely hammy!

I got a girl hammy for my 1st and she is more inclined to walk about on your hands and try get onto your lap or shoulder than my girlfriends male who seems to be a bit slower and more happy to be stroked etc but i havent noticed her smell being particularly strong even when held close to my face. Ill have to see if my new male follows this trend of liking to be stroked! cant wait to groom his long fur! hehe

Oooo just a quick note,
Be careful to house the boy and the girl syrian a fair distance apart. She will come into season every four days or so and it will drive your boy wild (if you know what i mean ) and you dont want an escapee/unplanned litter.
This advice was given to me by another forum member when i was asked if i could take on an adult boy or girl from a box of hammys that had been dumped. I ended up taking the only boy, as I already had a syrian boy.
Having a boy and a girl wont be an issue, its just something you have to bear in mind when housing.

And in answer to the topic, all mine are boys.
One of my robos doesnt want to know and is nervous, but nosy and does like to be talked to (Freddie)
One is really friendly and sits on your hand, but i darent handle him away from the safety of a box! (Sam)
My younger syrian absolutely loves being handled and wants to be picked up everytime we go near his cage and loves being the center of attention. (Cow)
My older rescue hammy took a bit longer to become accostomed to being handled but now he enjoys the attention, however is a bit more active when held than my other syrian, but enjoys hiding up sleeves and trying to climb down my shirt -typical bloke! (Womble)

I have kept boy and girl hamsters in the past, and i'd say that the boys I have kept have been a lot more laid back than the girls. I definately prefer boy hammys, but I do think that it depends on the hammys personality too
