Default Meet Harry, Murray and Mint :)

Hi Everyone! Thought I would put some piccys of my 3 gorgeous (I'm a tad biased) hamsters.

Harry is a long haired, cream banded, male Syrian. He's just over 5 months old

Murray and Mint brothers and are both nearly 4 months old

Murray is black and white, whereas Mint is grey

Murray

Mint

If anyone can tell me the colours of Murray and Mint, I will be much appreciated. I think Mint is grey and Murray is mottled black but I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks, Charley

Aww they are all gorgeous.
I think Murray and Mint are Campbells Russian Hamsters and Murray is a Black Banded with Mint being a Platinum. These are both non standard colours for showing but they are very pretty. I have never seen a black banded before myself.
You can check out colours here and compare yours to the pics.

Hiya Souffle, looking at those pics from the link, Murray is a Mottled black. His head is all black but his body is white with black spots all over it That wasn't very clear in the pictures

Thanks for telling me Mint's colour! I now know what he is lol

When you say 'non standard colours', what do you mean? Does that mean that they aren't good enough for showing? I don't mind if their not because I don't intend to show them anyway lol

Thanks, Charley

A non standard colour is a colour which has not yet had a standard written and accepted by the National Hamster Council. It does not mean they are not good enough to show and all shows have a 'non standard' class. In the class the hammies are just judged on size, type. condition etc and the colour is not judged at all.
To become standardised a colour has to be shown to be able to be bred over 3 generations and then be presented to the standards comittee who will the consider the case and adopt the colour as standard. A written standard will be published and hamsters will then be judged against this. There are currently several colours undergoing standardisation in all species and hopefully Robos will also be standardised so they can be shown.
You could certainly take your hammies to a show and enter them in Pets class at first and then see if you might like to show them in main classes if you wanted too

Wow, showing seems really confusing lol. I would love to show them but I don't have a clue where any shows are in Hampshire, what the showing process is and I couldn't get there anyway because I can't drive yet Ah well, never mind, but thank you for your answer!!
