Cleaning Wodent Wheels
I know this may sound silly but I'm having trouble cleaning Vince's Wodent Wheel, I've looked on the website but I still don't get how you take it apart for cleaning!?
Everytime I try I feel as though I'm going to break it, anyone tell me how you take it apart?
Thanks

Re: Cleaning Wodent Wheels
Hana I am known as a Google Wizard but my searches are coming up with nothing today! It would be a good idea to make a video on cleaning it for YouTube.
I do not have a Wodent Wheel myself but I might get one for Leo. I have been reading about the Wodometer just now!

Re: Cleaning Wodent Wheels
They are quite difficult to take apart and I find the best way is to use ratnose pilers to take out the fixing pin (or whatever its called)
I usually just run hot water and disinfectant through the wheel and scrub the inside with a scouring pad though.

Re: Cleaning Wodent Wheels
Well I've just done mine, here's how it went:
push the face of the wheel slightly to loosen the pressure on the cotter pin (straight pin)
grab it with some needle nose pliers and remove, put it somewhere safe!
slide off the first plastic washer
pull off the main body of the wheel
slide off the second plastic washer.
the wheel should pull easily into two halves.
the ridged strip (the bit the ham runs on) can then be pulled away from the other half of the wheel.
You now have a front, a back and the ridged strip (with a joining clip)
wash away!
assembly is the reverse, slotting the strip into one half of the wheel, then placing the other half on top until it sits together.
slide on the fist washer (nobbly side first), the wheel, the other washer (nobbly side outwards).
press the wheel down on the fram until you can see the hole in the frame.
using the pliers slide the cotter pin back in to secure the wheel.

Re: Cleaning Wodent Wheels
Thats exactly what we do neggy. Watch the fixing pin/clip thing though. They have a habit of vanishing never to be found again. I probably have about three down my sink trap!
