Default Photos of Charlie

Well I finally have one or two photos - not very good - I'm not well and can't see straight and Charlie doesn't keep still! I just put the vine branch in his cage tonight and he loves it - had a good nibble, a good climb, and then just laid on the top of it for ages looking out at the world, so managed to get a snap but shame about the bars! The other two photos were from when he was out in the bath the other night for a run and a play. What you can't see from the photos is how big he is! I'll try and get a photo of him in his wheel - he looks the size of a rat when running in his wheel!

I'm not usually up this late, but been asleep most of the day with this horrible flu. Just snapped him on the wheel so you can see how big he is - and that's with his legs tucked under running - when he's full length he looks much longer. We think his Dad was a guinea pig. I reckon he's getting on for 7 inches long.

How old is charlie and have you weighed him? That would help to see if he is a healthy size

Lol! Would probably have to get him in a straitjacket to weigh him! We don't know how old he is. We were told he was 'just a baby' by the pet shop but he was pretty big then so we reckoned he was fully grown. Then he seems to have grown a bit more in the first 3 weeks, which was when I noticed the Rotastak was entirely unsuitable and started reading up about hamster cages and found this site. He is quite lean, not fat at all - just very long. In fact I sometimes think he could do with fattening up a teeny bit as doesn't have much fat on him, but isn't looking anorexic either.

That third pic is mostly what I see of Charlie - 'I'm cautiously poking my nose out to see if the world is safe'. About every 3 days he will come to the bars and want to come out though. He doesn't look lean on those photos because of the angle, but when he is walking along normally he is really long and lean - I guess the back end is big and long because he's a boy (I think!).

Am guessing he maybe was about 6 weeks old when we got him and then grew a bit more. We have had him 7 or 8 weeks, so he is probably 3 to 4 months old. Unless he really was fully grown and just had failure to thrive in the pet shop so grew a bit!
