Default twigs and sticks

I am tempted to put some branches or twigs in Treacle's cage but I am not sure what type of tree they should come from. I know that they need to be cleaned before put in the cage but I need to know what type they should be.

Hi Treacle

Putting twigs or branches in Treacles cage might stop bar chewing, and is very enriching

twigs and branches all sorts of trees like birch, oak, hazel and beech trees are ok. No harmful substances, and this is what hamsters would probably use to wear down their teeth in the wild

dried bread and dog biscuits are a good idea aswell (you probably already know about that :P )

Im on msn right now

Leafpool

AND dont forget to clean the twigs and branches like you said

I would go with branches from fruit trees such as apple, pear or cherry. Use fairly sturdy ones and scrub them before use. Twigs are not so good as they may cause mouth injuries. Some trees such as willow, yew and fir type should not be used as they contain toxic substances.

I bought Toby those sticks that are joined together with wire and can be bent and he has shown no real interest in them. He has a wooden house and those sticks and he still wants to chew the bars!
