Should I?
There are some lovely Russian Dwarf babies not far from me I have a spare cage and would just need a few bits and bobs. Should I get another fluff? I really want to just wondered if I should try and exercise some self control!

Re: Should I?
I'm sure I wouldn't, exercise self control that is! ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
If you have all you need to care for it what's causing the second thoughts? If you think you can give it what it needs I'd go for it

Re: Should I?
Just because I'm new back to hamsters ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif) I have a Bristol cage from pets at home I'm sure that would be big enough for taming but would it be big enough when he/she grows up?
Teddy what's your new baby like?
Brilliant this is why I asked here for a second opinion!

Re: Should I?
Becky, she's very intertaining to watch.. Aha!! She flys like a bullet over her toys, runs a million miles per hour on the wheel, tiny feet and legs, go so fast.. Then.. Looks up at me with her tiny face, and big eyes, and then off she goes, runs like a maniac.. I've just started handling her. She's a bit nippy, but does not look like she is fearful- brave stance, and won't run away from my hand. She also, knows my voice already. She will come out from her nest, when I talk to her ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif) . I've only had her for 5 days..

Re: Should I?
I agree your cage would probably be fine for taming but I prefer to give them more space as they are very lively little things, maybe you could buy or make a playpen so it would have plenty to do out of the cage.
Have you had a Russian dwarf before? If not I'd go back, have another look & handle them then go from there. Probably be hard to resist by then!

Re: Should I?
I can't add any technical advice, I've never had a dwarf - only Syrians, but I say, "Yes, yes, a thousand times yes," to a hamster. ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif) Just in case you needed another vote.

Re: Should I?
The bar spacing is a little bit wider than my alexander but not by much is a little one likely to escape from this? I had a dwarf when I was younger she loved me and hated everyone else with a passion! Going to see little one tonight and make a desicion! Thanks for all the yes's!

Re: Should I?
I haven't actually seen that cage except online so I'm not sure about the bar spacing, it should be around 8mm I think.
Good luck for tonight, look forward to hearing how it goes

Re: Should I?
Went brilliant! I am completely smitten ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif) I picked a little creamy goldeny one who came straight up and was crawling all over my hands and sat for a little grooming ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif) so sweet! My cage is not going to work they are super tiny so I'm on the hunt for a tank! They're 4 weeks old so I'll get him/her in a week probably mum is really sweet was holding her too and daddy is friendly just doesn't enjoy cuddles. The owner was great spent about half an hour there chatting! they're really well looked after I'm so excited now!
Sounds lovely teddy what is it called ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Yeah had a Russian dwarf when I was younger and loved her.
Lots more hammy shopping to do what a shame
