I also agree, never had a problem with my cat and the hamsters even though we got him as an adult! However, I find that when I had mice my cat was very interested indeed and sadly managed to knock over the cage and kill one of my mice. If you get kittens I am sure there wouldn't be an issue

Yeah, mice do seem more interesting to cats. I've never owned mice, but our cats have caught wild ones and brought them in on more than one occaision - although the last time one of our cats brought in a mouse, the mouse wasn't even scratched and our cat seemed to love it and wasn't interested in hurting it atall
