Hamster goody shopping :D
I bought so much stuff for the hamsters. I usually don't go this crazy all at once. lol Part of it was because I had a good amount of Amazon credit to spend. lol But some was from other places too that had great bargains. I got Kaytee bedding (one bag is 56L), strawberry and cheese yogies, peanuts, pistachios, a 25 lb bag of reptile sand, this thingy http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...L._SL1500_.jpg, a cardboard truck http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...L._SL1500_.jpg(Teddy's idea), Whimzee toothbrushes, honey and strawberry loops, a few different houses (at least one or all are wayyy too big and should have known since one had a pic of a Guinea Pig coming out lol). Oh and this ceramic pipe from a craft store, Hobby Lobby. I have noooo clue what anyone else would use it for, but it was in the summer decorations clearance area (see pic at bottom). Oh and a little hamster food dish. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41szOBJANNL.jpg
Here is the ceramic pipe:
I told Teddy I needed to get more toys and stimulation for the hamsters. It's so difficult finding things that are a good size for Syrians, as you all know.

Re: Hamster goody shopping :D
Ha! Lol. You got quite the haul! Tomorrow I'm making the trek to the good pet store, who I actually feel okay buying supplies from. There's currently about 2 cups of hamster food in my house...not going to last long! Plus if Mozza has 28 babies I'll need 28 more igloos. *sigh* lol.
I'm really going there to get a few more female tetras for my tank...I have one male and 4 females and he's chasing them like crazy so I need to get some more so my girls are less stressed. And that's not just an excuse to get more fish, I promise...!

LOL I don't think you'll need an igloo for every hamster unless you separate them. They'll sleep together like mice and rats in a group(s) until they get a little older and have to be separated (fighting or gender). So are you breeding the tetras then? What aren't you breeding? lol Have fun on your shopping trip!

Haha, yeah you're right, lol. I can just see me going up to the register with 28 igloos though!
The tetras...well I don't really mind. They can breed if they want, but they're hard to breed in captivity so I figure I won't get babies. I have a bright pink female, a pale pink female, an orange female, a purple female, and an off-blue almost white male. My one poor little male spends the whole day chasing the girls! He's a little desperate...

Re: Hamster goody shopping :D
Thats a great haul!!! Hams will be so happy! I found a school bus like the truck, that I bought today. They are made from cardboard, so hams can chew it, too! Emsy, I was just browsing online today, and saw car toys, made for hamsters- those were not cardboard. I'll be going back and checking on the size- thought those would be fun set up in a playpen. That's actually what I'm shopping for, toys that I can alternate in hams playpen. Let us know how your hams like their new toys & treats.

Ahhh, hamster toys. You can never have too few!! We moved a lot of our stuff into storage this weekend - the only personal effects I have left are three boxes of hamster toys, a box of knitting and some jewellery! My boyfriend thinks I'm barking.

Teddy, seems like fun! Feel free to share any other goodies you come across.
Corrie, 3 boxes of hamster stuff seems like a lot. lol Does that count food and litter? I want to build up a set of toys to rotate but it's slow going. If I had dwarfs, it would be much easier. lol

Hi Esmy
It does include food and litter (but not sawdust, I have a giant bag of that in the shed which I had forgotten about, thanks! ) but two boxes are toys. It's all quite bulky though - their rug and their playpen, plus the two Sputniks and the balls fit into one box, the other is full of the wooden castle I made, a treat ball, their crinkle tube, then all of the other bits and pieces that rotate through the cages (mostly colour-coded blue for Pippin and pink for Molly).
