Default Just got back from P@H

I'm so saddened, there were so many beautiful Syrians in the shop, and I'm sure some were far too young to be there, they still had tightly shut eyes and were curled up - I wanted to take them all home !!!

They were likely just asleep and a bit scared are being in a big bright shop. I don't think P@H sell babies less that 6 weeks and Bunsey has said.

I was told by a PAH staff member that Ness was five weeks old when I got her... well I asked her age and the answer was something like 'she's about five weeks'. So is that not legal?

the law is something like two weeks from weaning age, so it really all comes down to what age you wish to define as weaned for hamsters, most take it as around 4 weeks, the last point to separate males and females, as this is the point you decide the males are weaned, but you could get away with it at maybe 3 weeks, so u could sell at 5 and still be within the law....its all down to interpetation as with many laws

I am glad I am getting Toby from a breeder. I hope pet shops that sell live animals are banned.

hiya i dont think pet shops should be banned from selling animals but i do think they should be far more regulated and they should not be allowed to sell cages which are too small for the animal. i think there should be a law on cage sizes so it is against the law to keep animals confined with not enough room.

i also think people shoud THINK before buying that cute bunny in the window and remember its a living animal that has needs. a planned pet is fine but some people buy pets on the spur of the moment because its cute and have no idea how to care for them or how long they are going to live!
