Default Is it normal for hamsters to lose their appetite after moving?

Today is Manchee's 4th day home and he seems to be settling in pretty well! I was just wondering if hamsters often lose their appetites after something stressful, like coming to a new home? I've been giving him a tablespoon of Burgess Super Food (or whatever it's called, I had to throw the bag away because it split) and the first couple of days he seemed to hardly eat anything. I saw him nibbling at a few bits, but his bowl didn't empty very much. Last night I heard him crunching away quite a few times in the night and when I checked this morning most of the food from his bowl was gone!

Did he just lose his appetite and then it came back? He seems quite settled and happy and the only time he's ever seemed distressed is when I come near his cage just after he's woken up. Even then he only goes and hides for half an hour, then he's fine.

My female syrian didn't eat very well for a few days after I got her and it happened again when I moved her into a new cage. She doesn't stop eating now

I think until they get established and settled they more 'eat on the run'. Once they set up a nice store and a nest area they will take their food there and eat in bed as normal. Glad Manchee is settling in well

Thank you both! I'm glad to know I was worrying over nothing
