Default Hamster grief

I still have my Syrian gandalf. But losing my little Hotch is hurting so much. The empty cage breaks my heart. I will get another Syrian an to give my love to. Mum's making me wait a few days to mourn Hotch properly.

But the empty cage just hurts. I'd love to go do the pet shop rounds and get another ASAP. Turn the grief into love for a new one.

Buried Hotch in the garden this morning. And disinfected his cage. Hardest parts over.

Yep, i know how that feels.
I lost Puff and Buddy on the same day.
One cage i managed to clean and put away but the other is covered with a blanket with his big wheel on it.
but the room is just way too quiet without the bar chewing and the whomping wheel spinning.

I know how you feel

Every morning when I woke up I said "Good morning my little Uno bug! How are you buddy?" And he would run out of his igloo and jump and turn and squeak and run and be all crazy and I would watch him! The morning after he passed, I said "Good morning my little Uno bug! How are y-" then I remembered. His cage was empty, he was never going to squeak again. Never going to go crazy, never going to jump and turn and run. I broke down and cried. But then my other hammies came out of their igloos, and one of Uno's babies, who I was keeping just because they look just alike, squeaked.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Enjoy your other hamster, they are born to be enjoyed!

I agree it helps having other pets around. When Fluffy died in September I couldn't clean her cage for a few weeks. It was almost like she was still with me if her cage with there filled with her things. Fluffy was a brilliant comfort when the last of the 4 gerbils died in 2012 and I bonded with her so strongly then which made it all the harder when I lost her. I still don't feel ready to have another syrian hamster as Fluff was so special to me and it just wouldn't be the same having another one. But I do have other small furries and they have been a wonderful comfort to me. I would one day like to have another syrian hamster and when I meet that hamster I'll know they're the one for me.

I had to clean his cage out after i buried him. I needed that closure. So its cleaned and disinfected. Playing my other Syrian has certainly helped. I think even my dog knows, he keeps coming for hugs when i cry.

I want another good nights sleep before i decided on another Syrian. I didn't sleep at all last night.

Thats my cheeky boy. His cheeky antics do make me laugh and get me through til i make a decision.
