Pets at home adoption centre...
Hiya,
Has anyone here had any experience with the pets at home adoption centres?
I've fallen in love with a roborovski hamster in my local store & he's been in the adoption centre since November 19th 2013. His previous owners gave him up.
I'm wondering what the adoption fee is & if it all goes to the adoption charity. I'm thinking I might pay the minimum fee & then make an additional donation to the charity via their own website etc. just incase p@h do take a fee of their own.
Thanks for reading!

Hi, I've enquired but never adopted.
It's a £5 donation to the p@h charity. I'm not sure if it all goes to the charity so you may have to check t&cs on their website.

I got Jackson (syrian) from the adoption centre back in Oct 2012 when he was 3 months old, he's now obviously 1.5yrs old and touchwood, is in full health. The guy told me just to donate £5, which I did.

Re: Pets at home adoption centre...
£4 was the minimum last year. Not sure what it is now.
I was given a hamster for free one time, they couldn't have given any less care over the hamster I took home

Re: Pets at home adoption centre...
Stories like this break my heart . Poor lil Robo must be bored stiff!!
I have a beautiful Roborovski from pah adoptions. She is absolutely amazing. She was 8 months old and similar to the one you had seen her owner had given her up. Ive had her 8 months now and she's a little cuddle monster.
I also have Doris my Chinese from adoptions who didn't sell. She was in there a while and i just couldn't stand seeing her sad face any longer. She has now come out of her shell and adores her Barney cage.
I gave £5 for each of them but they said the money i paid was my decision, bet they recommend half the price they sell for.
I say go get the little Robo

Re: Pets at home adoption centre...
I rehomed a little robo from P@H adoptions last year and the minimum donation is half the price of their 'normal' stock so it was £5 in her case as my store charges £10 per hamster.
I'm fairly sure all the adoption fee goes to the charity.

Re: Pets at home adoption centre...
Thank you for your replies everyone
I've seen a few Syrian's in the adoption centres & a few weeks ago there was a trio of Chinese dwarfs that hadn't found homes.
The little guy I'm hoping to get is in a tiny tank with no wheel & a very chewed up cardboard tunnel, he was curled up in the corner with no bedding
Hopefully he's still there tomorrow morning!
I've decided I'm going to pay the minimum & then get the details of the charity & make an additional donation directly to them.
xx

Re: Pets at home adoption centre...
I got Rosie my p@h adoptions in June. She was in adoptions because she had, had an eye infection. The lady weren't going to let me have her as it was an hour drive to get home. So I had to buy a carry box to be able to have her, after the lady decided I would give her a loving caring home.
She's a lovely thing.
I paid £5 as they asked for half of the normal selling price.
