Smelly Hamster?
Hiya all. Was having a general chit chat with my Dad, and I just mentioned about Alvin not seeming at all smelly. He said that my Sisters Hamster sometimes smells. We were talking about the cage more than anything. Now I know that my Sis cleans hers out the same as mine, and we use the same bedding. So why does hers smell? Are females more smelly? x

Re: Smelly Hamster?
Hiya,
Some females have a mush stronger smell than others - especially ever 4 or so days when they come into season.

Re: Smelly Hamster?
I've found that females are more smelly. Not sure why. But most of mine have been males, just because I think they smell less!

Re: Smelly Hamster?
It also depends on the age of your hammies. We find older hams tend to wee a bit more so the cage and potty needs more cleaning. I definitly find girls more smelly in that distictive girly hamster perfume way

I have two boys and one girl syrian - and Daisy has a much stronger aroma than Bowser and Fudge put together!
