The dog got into my hamster room, and got Chibiusa.... :'(
I am sort of beating myself up about this. I know that the dog, Penny, was just following her instincts, and she can't be blamed for that. She is a mixed breed, but part of that mix is hunting breeds. So, this isn't a complete and total surprise to me, but still, its saddening to lose such a precious little ham in such an awful way.
I am in more a state of relief, because I thought, when I entered my room and saw the cage lid on the ground and no sign of Chibiusa, that she was loose in the house somewhere. It wasn't til later in the day that I found her little body, and gave it a proper burial. Now I know that she is at the rainbow bridge and don't have to worry about her being loose.
I guess the bottom line is that I am going to be more vigilant about not leaving the door to my room open. Still, looking at her empty cage leaves me with an sad and empty feeling in my heart. I am not going to get another robo, which is what Chibiusa was. I've already made that decision. Sure, they are little and cute, but they aren't really the hams for me. I prefer to have slower, more easily interactive hams, than watch and enjoy hams.
