Default Sammy was in an unwakable trance.

On Wednesday after watching the Apprentice (Go Lee!) I came up to check on Sammy. He'd been in the ball for about 20 mins and I'd put him up before the Apprentice had started.
He was sitting on his shelf in his HH in a trance. Now, this is normal. I thought he was listening or something like he always does when I come in. But he wouldn't wake. I said his name about 10 times, walked around the room (quite loudly), (here is where, for me, it gets worrying) opened the cage, stroked him, picked him up, talked to him and took him downstairs to show Mum as I was worried and put him on the Sofa. He wouldn't stop being in a trance! Mum said to put him back in the cage as maybe he was scared? So I did but he wouldn't move. I put him next to the ladder and all he did was put his paw out to stop him falling! I had to set him down in his cage where the only thing he did was move under his log bridge (REALLY slowly, it was like in really really slow motion.) It was really weird. As I thought he might be in pain I put him on the ground level of his HH. All he did was slowly creep into his bed. I was so worried.
Luckily he got up after about 30 mins and was normal. I picked him up and he acted like he usually does! Really cheeky . Is this common? I'm so worried, I don't know whether he has a disease or something
Thanks for comments.

What type of hamster is Sammy? Maybe he just got mesmerised and was in a deep trance so you couldn't rouse him. I would see if he does it again and if he does take him to the vet to get checked over. My WW/Campbell Hybrid goes into fit like trances but she does have a neurological disorder and she has done it since she was 6 weeks old. Keep an eye on him and good luck Sammy

Sammy's a syrian. The main thing I was worried about was the Brain type illnesses. I don't know. It must have been a REALLY deep trance. Its like when people have fits. They don't recognise you're there and just 'stare through you'. I really hope it doesn't happen again
