Advice anyone? Hamster wheel in bad shape new one coming by end of week.
Hello everyone! My syrian hamster Graycee has a comfort wheel that is in bad shape, and is not turning straight. It is still usable, but I can tell she is frustrated with it and not using it as much. I ordered her a wodent wheel last night (my other syrian has one and loves it!) but it won't be arriving until late this week! Right now I've been letting her run in her ball a lot at night before I go to bed and it seems to be helping. She is still using the wheel, but I am worried that it might break before the new one arrives. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can help her get the exercise she needs before the new wheel comes? I can tell she is frustrated with her bad wheel. Thanks!!

If its looking dangerous then I would take it out before it causes problems give her extra runs in her ball till her new wheel arrives hope it gets here soon.

She'll be okay without the wheel, just not as happy as she will be with the new one. It's not worth her getting frustrated or hurt by it. Kaztrekie's right about the ball. It will help her run off some energy until the wheel comes.

The hamster ball is definitely helping her run off some energy! She is getting used to routinely going in it at night now. She waits for me to let her out because she knows she gets to run! Thanks so much for your help! Just a few more days until the wheel gets here!

Just a quick update: Graycee's wheel arrived in the mail today, and it is in her cage ready to go! She came out of her nest for a quick peek and test drive and I can tell she is more than happy to have a wheel back! Thank you all for your help!

Glad to hear that her new wheel has arrived. She'll enjoy it so much. However, don't stop her ball adventures. My hammies have always loved their time to run about the house. And it makes them really quick to come out to me when they know it's out of cage time.

Yes she has taken to the new wheel quite nicely! And don't worry - she hasn't let me forget about her ball time! She loves it, and has become quite used to the routine. Every night she waits for me to let her out. She props herself up and gets this expression on her face that says "well??" It's quite adorable!
