After creating such a stir with this last week I decided to adopt him if he was still there...

...so I now have another hammy called Corinthian (from 2 pints of lager...)

Still need to sort out piccies of the whole brood, so will intro him properly then (or later if he is still hissing at me...)

Hi Vnewwoman congratulations I am so pleased for you well done. I adopted a hammy last week and will definatly do it again in the future. I am glad to hear the new addition has come to you. Aww I love the name hehe. I know you will bring him round.

Kumi who I adopted at ours last week I have brought him round and he is a really lovely hamster now and doesn't scream at all.

How old is he?

Thanks sarahh. They said last week he was less than a year old but that's all I have on him - that and that he is aggressive (I would say terrified). Just tried to talk to him and he screeched everytime I made a sound. Still, no rush. Looks healthy enough but obviously haven't been able to get too close!

Okay, Corinthian has stopped squeaking at me, and felt brave enough to emerge from the tube and let me have a look at him.

I can now see that he needs a name change and have settled on Daisy.

Do you think almost a year of being a 'he' will have caused any psychological problems?

I'm no expert but it's not THAT hard to sex a syrian

Hi ya aww congratulations he is definatly happier now as she's stopped squeeking.

Ah he is a she Mmm why didn't anyone know what the difference was its not hard to sex a hamster. I don't think a name change will make any difference she will pick up on the new name and I do like the name Daisy we have a cat called Daisy.

When I got Kumi the first time I handled him I made sure he was actually a boy.

Congrats again looking forward to hearing more about Daisy and how she gets on.

well it shouldn't be that difficult considering her age, poor thing

oh well sounds like she's in safe hands now - well done on the rescue, nice one.

We have a russian at our store that's been up for adoption for about 3 months now, no one will take him home because he screeches every time one of us opens his cage.

It's really sad, all he needs is a bit of tlc, I would take him myself but I'm taking 2 rescue's from Emma next week (everything crossed) but if not I'll take hissing Sid instead

Hi NaomiR aww bless that poor little russian if we didn't have 10 hamsters now I would have had him. Kumi was the same screeching everytime they opened the door but I knew I could bring him round and have succeded with results for having a wonderful hammy.

Fingers crossed on 2 rescues from Emma next week if not poor sid.

Take care
