do you have a favourite?
I was wondering, for all you multiple hammy owners out there (and let's face it, there's not many people who could remain solo-hammy owners for long!), do you have a favourite? And if you do, do you feel guilty about it?! I'm starting to feel worried about favouritism between Clover and Pumpkin, though they're both so different that I honestly couldn't pick who I liked best!

i must admit that i am closer to some than to others, but usually my fav and daves favs are different, so usually the whole lot are someones favorite!
thats not to say they are not all loved, nor that any get any less attention, just some are more in my thoughts, and sparj me to talk more about them than others.

They're all loved, but I know I have better relationships with some than others - at the moment I'm getting on better with Hobbs and Wesley.
They're both the easiest to get out, and have really behaved this week.
Of course, it does rotate - last week it was Harry and Bob cooperating, and getting the treats; the week before, Dave; and Tupac and Biggie were adorable settling into their new, seperate, homes.

They are all special in their own ways but some do remain in your heart for longer than others.
One of my all time favourites from the many hundreds we have owned was Ralph.
Ralph was a SH Cream Satin, one of Jean's rehomes, who came to us in our very early showing days when he was about 6 months old. He was a real sweetheart as well as a stunning hamster and won us some of our first best in class tophies. At a year old he developed a swollen testicle which did not respond to antibiotics and so had to be removed as the vet felt it may be a tumor. Mark was shocked at the time that we had spent over £60 on vet teatment for one hamster - if only he had known then what was to come in future years!! Obviously that was the end of his show career but he was then adopted by my little person who was just a tiny tot at the time who continued to enter him in the pet class. He lived for a further year after his op and will never be forgotten.

i love them all very dearly, but yes, for my it's been a bit of a different relationship with Bunsey and then with Harvey. it's hard to say how. it's not that i just like them more or something, it's just a different relationship somehow. i can't really explain. a stronger bond that turns into something more than just mamma and hamster.
i adore Hannah and Oscar for example, but i could go away a few days and leave them. i can't leave Harvey on the other hand. i did do once and i hated it. i was glad to go home because i just wanted to be with Harvey.
when i went away without Bunsey, she lost weight and withdrew. she was very upset and it took her a few days to get back to normal.

I love them all, and certain aspects of their personalities mean that at different times one or another is favourite (for example chewing on gabber lids continuously can drop someone down the table quickly!)
I have to admit to a special special bond with my Spud though, it may sound stupid, but its mutual, he is so lovely and friendly with everyone, but with me will sit on my chest, climb up on my shoulder and whisper in my ear, and curl up in my hand. He definitely knows my voice and runs to see what I want when I call him. Maybe the best reason he is a favourite is that he puts up with kisses, snuggles, me blowing on his fur and kissing his nose without any irritation at all. I have never so much as had him chatter at me, no matter what I have done with him.
mmm - not sure whether I have answered properly, but in case you were wondering - I have a soft spot for my Spuddy Boy

I love all mine and they all have their different personalities and special things I love about each individual but I have to admit that Chunky holds a special place in my heart. He and Berry were my first 'breeder' hamsters and whereas Berry was quite hyper when they first arrived, Chunky just loved, and still loves, to be held and fussed.

I have a syrian and three Roborovskis so I love them for different reasons - the robos are fun to watch (I am considering getting rid of the telly) but Bowser is obviously easier to handle.
I have had a few syrians over the years and I would have to say my all time favorite was Trafford. I had him when I was 12 and he was the most fab hamster from the start. He lived til he was nearly 2 1/2 and became very feeble. I knew it was his time to go when I called him and he didn't get up to see me. He took his last breath on the Christmas morning on my lap while I stroked him (still makes me cry and that was about 13 years ago )
