Default 10 inch flying saucer? syrians

so... i was thinking of having a shot at making my own flying saucer wheel for banoffee... i've got it all planned but we shall see how it goes if atall.... anyway for the wheel bit itself i found the perfect metal dish in a charity shop near me thing is its 10 not 12 inches... obviously it's too small for a normal wheel but would it being a flying saucer style wheel mean it would be an ok diameter? any ideas? or should i keep on hunting for a 12 inch one (along with the hunt for a 12 inch cake tin for her 'normal' wheel plan).
thanks

I think it might be fine. Set her on it and see how she "fits" on it where she would run. Does it look like she would have enough room?
I have a 12 in saucer and it's more than big enough for my full grown syrian. It could have easily been a little smaller with no problems at all.
I think you should try it out if it looks like she would fit on it.

I don't think it works out that there are different size requirements between flying saucers and normal wheels - they just bend their backs to the side rather than upwards.
But a 10" wheel may be big enough anyway. The reason 12" is used is its just the next available size up when 8" is a squeeze.
If your hamster can fit comfortably on it you're good to go

ah well it wasn't a 12" silent spinner just a 12" strong metal circular tray. i've got some nice spinny things (technical term) - for castors actually they have some nice ballbearing rings inside so spins well easily and quietly.

if it works it'll have cost all of £2.50 for the spinner
if it doesn't well... i tried :P

I spent $29 for my 12" saucer, and it's too big for my ham. She loves running on it but ends up using it as a potty because she either can't reach her potty corner or can't always get off it!

I don't know what it works out to in dollars but I paid £8.33 (Plus £3 postage) for my 12" flying saucer on Ebay a couple of months ago.
