Oh - and George wrote it. My wife and I are just the translators.

Wey we have a famous author or authors on board. Guess what Pophammy will get for her birthday. Pophammy has won several competitions with her own hamster stories and has had quite a few poems published so she shares you interest. Why not come to our show next Saturday in Brockholes? It is only about 20miles from Sheffield. Bring some books with you and you can sign them if anyone wants to buy. You could bring your hammies for pets too

I don't believe it!

You wrote (ahem!) translated the George Stories!!!

Well, I really love it - I've not finished it yet (purely because the three new Torchwood novels arrived at the same time and I'm sort of reading them together), I'm on the bit where George goes to Paris - as I'm off to France in June I'm soaking up George's views eagerly!

It's a great book, in my (unbiased!) opinion

Okay. Sounds good. Coupla things...

1. Directions? Times? I'll see how the schedule goes and whether we may be able to make it.

2. The book is 'christian' so it has christian interpretations at the end of some of the stories (but these can be glossed over). It will be good to read Holly's feedback when she gets round to it. I know that many more kids than adults keep hamsters so I was torn between putting the meanings 'at the end of the book' in an appendix or keeping it as George wrote it. I opted for the latter. George actually wrote it for adults.

3. At the moment, we have no hamsters. We kept them for about 10 years, then a cat (and she had stories to relate, too!) - now, for a time, we're petless.

4. When/If you want a copy, go to www.arlev.clara.net/george.htm and you'll get it cheaper (although I get the same amount of money!). There're some extracts on there, wallpaper, other articles and so on.

Thank you, thank you - I accept your positive feedback on behalf of the late George. When you finish it, please pretend I won't see your review and say what you think.

You won't believe just how accurate his descriptions of the areas are!

On a human-to-human level, don't miss the Musee D'Orsay, on the other side of the Seine from the Louvre. It's a converted Railway terminus and has a lot of Van Goghs in. Not only great art, but a great building, too. There's a special 3 and 5 day pass you can buy to make entrance fees cheap (or there used to be).

Here is a link to the Brockholes Show details. I did not realise you had no hammies now. Sorry about Gearges passing but he has obviously left his mark on the world and on your hearts. If you hang around on this forum I doubt you will stay hamsterless for long! Now Spud's mum has some lovely babies just now......
The pet judging will be around 2pm with hamster racing to follow. Show closes at 4pm so I guess pet time would be a good time for you to come if you would like to. Don't worry if you can't make it though, maybe another show at Mapplewell or Brinsworth is nearer.
The Haffertee hamster books also have a christian message. We have just returned from Paris. Strangley it was the Mussee d'Orsay and the Monet paintings there that inspired Pophammy to write a story that won a national competition and it was about hamsters! She was only 8 then.
PS Ordered it. Will get you to sign it when/if we meet

It sounds like fun - yes, we'll come along (unless something unforeseen crops up). See you there.

14 year olds need to learn patience - see you at the show. Make sure you come up and say 'Hi!' to my wife and I.

I'm actually looking forward very much to the hamster racing!

I've just realised that Pophammy is a forum name and not a hamster! Any chance of taking a look at the story? Is it posted anywhere?
