Hamster Ballet/Opera/History Books
For the past few years Souffle has given me a special book at Christmas. As far as I know there are only these three in the series and they are quite hard to come by. I am lucky to have a signed copy of the 'Hamster Ballet Company' book!
The text tells about different ballets, operas and British history. All appears to be true and the ballets and operas are real. Each one is illustrated with beautiful paintings, but instead of people the characters are hamsters! We have spent many hours matching each hamster in the pictures to our own hamsters!
Here are some pictures of the books and illustrations. All are illustrated by Janis Mitchell and comentated by Stanley Baron.
The Hamster Ballet Company
The Firebird
Romeo and Juliet
La Sylphide
Sleeping Beauty
The Hamster Opera Company
The Barber of Seville
La Traviata
Madame Butterfly
The Rhinegold
The Hamster History of Britain
Stonehenge Hamsters
Robin Hood
Admiral Nelson
The Beatles
These are just a few of the illustrations from these books ~ there are many more and I'm sure you'll agree that they are all beautiful!

oh wow, they're fantastic, Pophammy - I'll have to try and track these down from somewhere! I decided earlier I don't own enough hamster-related gubbins and these would do nicely!
[edit to say: have just added these to my amazon wishlist - hopefully someone will get the hint, LOL!]

The books are very easily available from Marketplace sellers on Amazon. I got the Hamster History of Britain after reading the first article.

Oh, I have the Hamster History of Britain! My mum bought it for me when I kept hamsters as I child, and I was trying to remember which book it was that I had. Thanks for the reminder Next time I am in the UK I will have to dig it out of my stuff there as it really is a beautiful book

My favourite picture is of Brithammia. I scanned it, changed the background to black and have it appearing at random as my wallpaper. It looks really cool.
