Re: Flying Saucer or Wheel ??
Great thank you.I saw one on ebay so I think Im gonna order it !!! Also whats everyones opinion on the metal wheels ? I think the solid plastic would be better bc Im afraid they'd get there lil foot caught in the wire ones.I told that to the women at the pet store and shes like...these are the only ones we use and we've never had any problems.I dont know I just think I'd feel better with them running on something solid vs. something with lots of lil' holes.

Re: Flying Saucer or Wheel ??
Mine each had a wheel and a (medium-size) saucer - my Winter White still does as she likes both. My Campbell couldn't quite figure the saucer out, so I took it out after a long-enough trial period.
If you have the space to accommodate both, you could just offer both and see what happens.
If it's an either/or thing, I would go with a wheel. Even my dwarf's small body is always a bit angled on the medium-size saucer, so I wouldn't want it to be the only running option. Substituting the large saucer probably wouldn't work because it doesn't seem to spin easily enough for a dwarf.

Re: Flying Saucer or Wheel ??
Metal wheels are usually mesh or have wire bars which aren't good from hamsters as it can cause bumblefoot and they can get their feet caught. It is a lot, lot safer sticking to solid track plastic wheels

Re: Flying Saucer or Wheel ??
Thank you thats what I was thinking but I wanted to make sure.Solid plastic wheels are al I've ever used for my syrians.I think Im gonna go ahead and buy the saucer and a wheel.Even if they both wont fit at the same time maybe I can switch it out every so often. The aquarium Im gonna use is 20 long and 13 wide with the wire mesh top.

Re: Flying Saucer or Wheel ??
Flower (a Syrian) has a wheel in her "house" and I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of a 12-inch saucer for her "summer home" (that's what we call her play bins). I can hardly wait to see if she likes the saucer!

Re: Flying Saucer or Wheel ??
My singles have one of each, my pairs have two wheels so they don't fall out. It's either that or they'll need even bigger cages to accommodate two spinners as well

Re: Flying Saucer or Wheel ??
I eventually chose the Wonderland wheel because I wanted it to take up as little room as possible since I wanted the biggest wheel possible (32cm).
