Counting Down To Hamster Day

Welcome to my thread-y/blog-y/I need your help-y thing!
At the time of posting, there is about a week or so to go until I'm getting my hamster (first ever pet!) I'm really excited so I decided to keep you all updated on what's going on in this 'prep' time, as well as use this thread to ask for advice and show you pictures of stuff
The first thing is the cage I've brought. It was second hand, one of my friends was selling it because she'd given up hammy-keeping
I'm going to show you a picture some time soon, and I'd really like your advice on how I can make it more like Fort Knox!
And, as I get stuff for my hammy (some stuff is coming through the post, and we're going off to buy other stuff), I'll take pics of that too

Er... After a bit of scrolling Is that cage one of the mickey ones?
I know you ideally want good news and such, but if its the size I think it is its much smaller than I'd advise keeping a hamster in, especially a syrian

I don't think it's a mickey one... it's pretty big compared to what I've seen in the petshops.

It said mickey double on the label too though? Can you get a tape measure and look at the dimensions?
I swear I'm not trying to pick holes but I just want to try and save you the stress of preparing this and then wanting bigger later or something. Given how fussy I am with ham cages it is a genuine concern is all

Oh It's bad news.
It's a Mickey Double, and it's 35cm along, by 30cm up. What should I do? My parents and I can't really afford another one!
