:0 What a big mistake!
Ok, me and my sister were playing with the pups and my dad came and honked the car for us to go. We just put the cap on the girls and (I thought) I covered the boys.
Well we came back hours later and I checked on my cats and walked in my room to check on the hamsters. THE BOYS CAGE WASNT COVERED!
I gasped and saw 2 hamsters in there. I looked under the cage and in the stuffing and there were 3 missing hamsters!!!
I couldnt believe I forgot to cover the cage!
I looked for about 20/30 minutes and was SO worried they got under the door and the cats got them or something. I was thinking I might never see them again.
Then I looked in my open closet (that had some stuff in it) and in the corner I saw eyes looking at me and saw Wilbur the black one! Then I looked and in a doll house thing I saw in one of the rooms another! (they were close together) I tried going slowly to get them but they ran from me and they took awhile to catch.
I kept thinking I heard noises in a big drawer that I cant get out for some reason so I tried for a while to open it and it was FILLED with papers (I have no idea why there were so many papers in there XD I must of stuffed them in there or something lol) buttercup was in that dresser the time she got lost in my room. Turns out after FOREVER of digging through it (it was pretty big)
he wasnt in there. Then I looked in the girls bin...and there were FIVE hamsters babys in there! SOMEHOW (hamsters can do crazy things) He got in the girls cage! I took him out, put him and the girls cage and closed it back.
Good thing they didnt get out :0 But even though they were just in my room (which is pretty small) i have dressers and lots of stuff they could get into.
Now im scared the girls are going to have babies. I HOPE they dont!
Phew, well, that taught me 2 lessons, Never give up, and ALWAYS close the hamsters cage, Lol! Im never going to do that again.

Re: :0 What a big mistake!
people make mistakes I've left my hamsters cages open before its just something that can happen no matter how careful you are mistakes do happen, I'd also try make sure you close your door behind you as its another safety measure.
Also how old are they?
Wishing the best.

Re: :0 What a big mistake!
I left a section of Fluffy's cage open night. I was SO mad at myself. I didn't see her for a day and a half and then one night at like 4 in the morning my mom heard some scratching in the computer room. I went in there, shut off all the lights, closed the door, sat on the floor and just listened. Sure enough 10 minutes or so later, I heard it too. I opened up the closet door and there she was staring up at me. I literally cried tears of joy!
It happens. It sucks but don't be too hard on yourself. I did it one other time too but it wasn't too long before she passed so she didn't even leave her cage. Or I suppose maybe she did but she came back?
Glad you found them safe.

Glad you found her! I dont know what I would do if I left my door open (I never do because the cats could get in) 3 babies scattered around the house with 2 cats prowling around? Well, im not sure I would of found them all.
But the only thing worse then that would be robo babies. Every time Peanut gets out (not lost but she gets out of our hands) she races past so fast that she is so hard to get!
They are about 4 weeks and a half

Re: :0 What a big mistake!
It's terrifying when that happens isn't it, it happened to me a while ago with Holly when I left the lid of his cage up. I came back about half an hour later and saw he was gone, started to panic then I heard rustling noises from the wardrobe. Looked and there he was, investigating some bags of knitting wool I store there. He had somehow managed to climb in the wardrobe door which is around 6 inches off the floor!
Now I'm trying to imagine a hamster taking up knitting.....
