So hard to walk away :0(
Me a d my mum went into pets at home this afternoon for some hamster food and some other bits and as usual I went over to the adoption centre and there was a little dwarf hammy called Lulu there,I adopted BB nearly 3 weeks ago and Lulu had been in a week then I can't believe that she's been overlooked and left there for weeks. I don't have the space, cage,or time to dedicate with already having 5 and I felt crap that I couldn't offer her a forever home (she had been bullied by her sisters,so needed to be by herself)
I really hope that Lulu finds a new mummy soon xxx

Re: So hard to walk away :0(
I was stewing all weekend over a little Chinese that I saw in there. Went back yesterday and it had gone. I tell myself not to look but I can't help it!

Re: So hard to walk away :0(
I have taken to ordering online and not going in store =/ Although my closest stores i rarely see any hamster in my closest stores (once there was a little syrian who was ill but was better now) but i do tend to see a lot of guinea pigs... If i could i would have a house over run by pets but its just not possible. Hopefully Lulu find her forever home soon

Re: So hard to walk away :0(
It`s really nice that Pets At Home have an adoption area, but when animals are returned and not rehomed quickly, they can spend weeks and months inside a small glass tank with no real attention or stimulation and they miss out on so much. It`s no wonder the long-termers come out with issues like biting and nervousness.
shazzy, I would have felt just the same seeing another Chinese looking at me. I`m not sure I would have the inner strength to walk away either, but sometimes you just have to.

I'm The same as Samzyzg,
I just do not go into pet shops any more. I know I will fall in love with a Hybrid dwarf & will never let that happen again.
I have a local lady deliver my bedding, I buy my food & sand on line & ive got everything else I need.
I don't trust myself

Re: So hard to walk away :0(
I was going back to get her RH.. She was a Dom spot so looked different to Willow. Unfortunately I just missed out - hope she went to a good home. I was stalling as she'd have to live in a mini duna and I knew how much willow loved space to run and dig

Yeah, it's dangerous...I try not to go in-store for that reason. Last time, I was staring at a girl hammy in the adoption section for ages. But dragged myself away when my OH threatened all sorts of things...

It's dangerous over here too. Last trip in, I came home with Joe (who turned out to be Johanna), as you may remember.
She is doing fine. Last night, I doubled her bin size by connecting two together. She runs so much. She slept today in the new one, and in the new big house. She is still quite shy.
