Default had to act on gut instinct....

well today was the day i was going to get my cream roan girly.... well things have progressed quite a bit...

i went to p@h to get her some supplies and i wandered into the adoption area. what i saw nearly made me cry
a fluffy male syrian, ex stock, had caught his foot on the water bottle and now has a badly deformed back leg. he had done it during the night and the staff only noticed mid way through the day
i couldn't just leave him there, again they were SCRUFFING him and he was squealing!!!

the breeder of the little roan girl has been amazing and said she would have done the same thing. i just acted on impulse, i had to get him out of there. he is jumpy, more than understandable, but so far he is handable. i am going to try and inspect his leg tonight. they said he had seen a vet and they said he can get about just fine but to be honest i don't believe them

i have named him henry but the hubby calls him egor

i feel awful for letting the breeder of the roan girl down but i had to go with my gut.

im guessing you guys will be pretty disappointed in me and i am sorry for that

xxx

How could any of us be disappointed you did something so brave and remarkable rescuing that little man! I think we all would have done the same

guys, the fact you understand means so much to me. i am a person who hates letting people down but my hubby wouldnt let me have both and it's only when i got home that i realised what i had done. (i know that sounds weird but think i was running on adrenalin)
i really hope this little guy will be ok, i will do all i can for him for as long as we are together. he seems to get around ok, bit gimpy, but im worried all his fluff hides the magtitude of whats wrong x

It`s fate dear, it`s fate! Nobody on here would tell you otherwise and what you have done is wonderful. When you think that he would have stayed there in that morbid place had you not walked past. It was meant to be hun, well done. Was his leg just twisted or bruised?

I remember a while back I was in our store, which happily isn`t very accessible to me as I don`t drive but my friend does, so we went in for some of her horses feedstuff and I walked around the tanks while my friend paid for her goods. I spotted a young syrian climbing one of those water bottles (the anti-chew metal kind) and his legs were dropping down into it. I told a member of staff what he was up to and they said they would check on him. By this time my friend and I had to leave the store, so whether they did check things out, I will never know.

It`s so nice to hear another hamster has been `saved` from this place.

If his leg does give any problems, I would have Pets At Home pay the vet bills. Try and find out if they will cover any vet treatment should he need to see your own vet or their in-store vet? It would be unfair of them just to wave the issue since the damage was done while the hamster was in their care.
