Default Got a reply!

I emailed the makers of Harry Hamster the other day, just to compliment them on their excellent food, and I also mentioned the amount of green pellet things in their mix, which most hamsters don't eat, and suggested they perhaps lower the number or even remove them. I didn't expect a reply but I got one today saying I raised a good point and that they will be discussing it in their next meeting! I was shocked lol.

In other news, I am rescuing two dwarf hams later tonight/tomorrow from an ad I saw weeks ago on Preloved that is still open. They live like this:

But I told her to keep the cage and just give me the hamsters, which she is charging £15 for I might add >_>

Anyway, I need some advice. They live together and I will be putting them in a bin cage but will the transition be ok just to do like any other ham? I have no experience of pairs so any advice would be great.

Thanks

Well done on both counts! You do often find that the companies who make the really good products will reply and take on board customer suggestions. These are the ones I stay loyal to

Also aww on the little hammies, are they Hybrids? Well done for rescuing them, cant wait to see the introduction thread. For the transition I would just move over their substrate (not that there seems to be much of that *squints*) and mix it in with fresh stuff. Give them plenty of bedding and some hidey holes with double exits, scatter the food all around for a distraction and give them two bottles and then nothing else for the first week or so. Let them settle in and then start introducing toys (two of each) every 3 days. If they squabble over anything take it away and try re-adding it another time.
This should hopefully make them less likely to fall out because of the stressful move and they will hopefully get along fine. Good luck!

Thanks, I think they are probably hybrids, I can only see one in the picture, and it isn't that good. I'm nervous because they are a pair but I will take your advice and I've been reading through threads here too. Can't be too bad if they already live together in that I guess.

Onion, I could be wrong (or need better glasses!) but I`ve looked closely at the hamster sitting in the wheel and if I`m not mistaken, it has a backside that looks to me very much like a male chinese hamster? Does anyone else see it? If they are two chinese males, you might get away with keeping them together, but it`s 50/50 really. My female was in a terrible Rotastak contraption like this until Abby (member on here) rescued her and her sister and found that they had already been seperated for fighting.

Chinese hamsters are lovely. If they turn out to be russian dwarfs, great too! Let us know how you get on. All I will say is, keep all the old substrate and bedding from their old cage and put it in your new set-up. This helps keep their scent familiar to them.

As for Supreme taking on your suggestions, well most manufacturers need us to advise them I feel as they might learn something!

They could well be, the picture is so unclear. I should find out when they get dropped off, but I'm still not sure when that will be :/
