How did you choose your hamsters name/s?

Up to three hamsters ago all mine were just Hammy.

Hampy was chosen out of the hat - the kids put names in, mostly daft, and of the ones which were reasonable (not just pop, blob, and similar) Hampy was first.

Nibbles was a consensus of all of us - it just seemed right at the time (though he never nipped much)

Our last just passed hamster was another Hammy as no-one could decide. The kids suggested we name him after the box he came home in but Flora didn't really suit!

The kids now want a new ham - so they now need to begin the thinking process again!

Some of the names here are inspired - I'll make sure the boys read it.

When I rescued Darla, she was called Pip, which I didn't think suited her at all. And I just kept calling her Darla, so it stuck

I had help choosing Lunas name from everyone here (wow, over a year ago now...!).

I posted a video that the breeder had sent me of Luna, as we named her before we got her, and someone said it looked like she had a moon on her back (a yellow bit, which doesn't look like a moon now she's an adult ) and Luna seemed appropriate, it definately suits her!

My OH claims it short for lunatic... The big meanie

Scamp - She is a scamp and made sure we realised it pretty quickly

Skip - Rescue, we let him keep the name, but it turned out that it suits him because he's a happy little guy

Whizz - Rescue, we let her keep the name, but it turned out to suit her since she's still skittish and very, very fast

Dusty - Her coat is quite "dusty" looking

Scruff - She's really, really scruffy and her coat is so distinctive we wanted to name her after it

Timmy - She (was thought to be a he) just suited it really well, partially because she was smaller than Dusty and Bump and had light colouring and sorta reminded me of the little kid in the playground you'd expect to be picked on, who somehow stereotypically has to be named Timmy or Jimmy in my world and Timmy suited her much better.

Bump - She seemed to be the biggest and chunkiest of the group, reminded me of the sort of bodybuilder type people, and while I was hunting for a name to do with that she managed to clumsily fall off a cube and remind me of Mr Bump. Bump suited the bodybuilder type thing and the clumsy move and became her name.

Muffin - She was the hardest to name yet, and in the end I went through the online thesaurus looking for name ideas. We went through quite a few words, then found "ragamuffin" and liked it but changed it down to "Muffin" which also worked quite well for her.

Nibbles- Is my first hamster and wanted a really hamster like name lol
Honeydo- Was named by me and a friend i did work experience with and she wanted to call it Honeydew but then i went and spelt it wrong so ive kept it spelt wrong haha
Cookie- Because i love cookies
Crumble- Because when he eats little pellets he crumbles them everywhere lol

Well when I was little I called my hamsters after chocolate.
Since then I have kind of done that.
Buttons is after chocolate buttons which my nephew chose when he came with me to get her.
Wispa - One of my favourite chocolates
Galaxy - She is the colour of galaxy bars
