Is anyone else paranoid about watching videos of hamsters on Youtube?
...that you're going to see something you don't really want to see? E.g a hamster being fed to a reptile, being cruelly teased, culling babies [i know that happens but i still don't wanna see it] it seems like so many videos of rodents on there in general show people being cruel to them and most viewers don't think anything of it

Re: Is anyone else paranoid about watching videos of hamsters on Youtube?
I`ve only watched a few videos of hamsters playing or someone describing how to care for or tame their hamster, but I have noticed a few that looked dodgy that I felt cold about and because they gave me a bad feeling, I never viewed them. In fact, I felt that they should have been reported and removed purely so that others could not view them and think what they were watching was `okay`. A hamster swimming for example? Hamsters should NEVER be immersed in water unless it`s under a vets instruction as a treatment. Even then, the hamster wouldn`t be swimming it would only be gently wetted and then dried off.
YouTube is just the sort of opportunity that idiotic people thrive on and for every nice video, there are probably three bad ones. It`s not good enough and isn`t policed correctly in my view. The really bad cases should actually be reported to the authorities like the RSPCA just as child abuse would be if it was found to be cruel. It`s too easy for sadists to get their kicks on sites like this.

Re: Is anyone else paranoid about watching videos of hamsters on Youtube?
I tend to only watch video made by my subscribers or ones that have been linked to me by the subs. I have had a couple of subs link me to vids like hams swimming, Syrians together, tiny cages etc asking if its ok and I do like when they link me these as it means that I can explain why its not okay to that person and then they go away wiser In general though I dont search hamster videos they make me really cross most of them

Even when they're not intentionally cruel there can be horrible ignorance - like people laughing like a drain at their poor neurologically damaged hybrids flipping. I daren't look.

Yes, that`s the sort of mentality I was talking about. Individuals thinking something is funny when in fact, it`s not.

I know, I've seen the ones where they were swimming them, poor things they were so frantic trying to get out of the pool, their eyes were almost popping out of their heads. I really try and avoid those kind of clips but sometimes the description doesn't tell you or is misleading, so can't help accidentally bumping into a few.

Re: Is anyone else paranoid about watching videos of hamsters on Youtube?
Oh don't, anyone that is familiar with my hams will know what a robo fanatic I am, I wanted to track those poor little ones and take them home to pompoms land
Only last week I saw a ham that looked pretty much identical to George stuck in an aquarium and fed to a snake, that set me off for a good half hour.
You tube not just with hamsters, but many other topics introduces me to a whole new level of idiocy, ignorance and down right cruelty that i was previously unaware of.
