Default Old man Pickle

Pickle is doing ok for his age, his fur is quite poor though and he hates being brushed but he needs it at times. His skin is quite flaky in areas and his fur is thinning. Good news is he is eating as normal and still on his hard foods. He uses his wheel very very rarely but I am reluctant to remove it as I don't want to upset him in case he goes looking for it..
He has softer foods and I was wondering if cod liver oil would help his skin and achy joints.. and if so would it be in his food or water?

I can't help with the cod liver oil, but debittered brewers yeast can be good for their fur
He's such a cute little grandpa ham though, really kept his good looks

Our Yorkie has Evening Primrose Oil sprinkled on his food every day as he's getting a bit 'creaky' now and has a long standing skin problem. You could check with the vet if its ok for hammies and the dose. His nose cracks so we use baby oil on it every day. Again please ask the vet first.

I asked about cod liver oil for Darcey - general assumption is that it is ok, and just a couple of drops at a time (but introduce it slowly to reduce tum tum upsets). I am going to pop some in some baby food. I can imagine it wouldnt mix well with water as it is oil - it would just float to the top.

P.S the debittered brewers yeast is good - its worked wonder for Darcey who has balding hips, and Daisy before her who also suffered from balding in old age

Oh bless him, he is looking like a distinguished older gent now isn't he. You're right leave his wheel, George still had a really short little plod in his every now and then even right at the end, nothing that could be described as running, but he enjoyed it.

Please give Pickle a gentle squish from me xxx

Bless his little toes. He`s a grand oldie Womble. My Boris will be like this at some stage so I`m preparing myself for that time now.
