Outsmarted By a Hamster
Tried to stop her biting the bars by covering it with toilet rolls and she turned it around and sat on it >.<

Re: Outsmarted By a Hamster
Scamp has part bin cage anyway and we did stop her for a few months
Lately she's winding us up and chewing for a few days and then stopping right before we're due to remove parts of the cage, but if she keeps it up we've got a lot of solutions planned anyway lol

Lol, I try and use the blow and no tactic, but she just ignores it and continues to bite away.

Re: Outsmarted By a Hamster
We don't use that one anyway. We go for blocking off the chewing areas, making them taste bad, finding distractions e.t.c

Re: Outsmarted By a Hamster
I setteled for a no bar cage, however lately he has been trying to chew his way out by biting the wood in the corner so should really make up my mind on a new cage for him plus it means Hammy gets a nice upgrade, i've been up all night doing a report and he spent a fair amount of it trying to get out. I would've let him out in his ball but Hammy was out and i dont let them interact xD he was let out after Hammy though.

Re: Outsmarted By a Hamster
Awww that's super adorable!
Touch wood, pepper seems to have stopped chewing the bars, we put lots of chew stones hanging where he usually bites, cut toilet roll tubes in half, and threaded them lengthways through the bars, and blocked off bits with toys, and he's not done it in 3 whole days (progress lol!)
Another thing is make sure you don't feed treats through the bars, as it may make them think they can get through to the food

Re: Outsmarted By a Hamster
Yeah, I wish my hamster would stop for at least 1 day. I got her a wooden ladder before and shes been biting away at the ladder.
