I`m in love! Can I have Darcy please? I love that grooming photo it`s so funny! Mufasa has gorgeous piercing red eyes. Were they both adoption hams Lucinda? Are those naughty choccy or yoghurt drops though? If they are hybrid russians might be best not to feed those because of their suspect sugar content.

Thankyou <3

Indeed, got them from P@H last February, lovely hammies <3

Yes they get some sugar treats but very limited as to avoid diabetes etc, inside the cage they only get their usual food, the treats are more a sort of incentive to come out for playtime, as I found that Mufasa wouldn't even bother to pop her head out for playtime lol, which I thought was perhaps unhealthy.

BTW the other bits of food you can see is from Silvers mix, which I recommend to anyone! Their coats are super-shiny and eyes are super-bright since they've been on the mix.

Aww Mufsasa is gorgeous! I really, really like her colouring

Darcy looks lovely too though, and I hope she stops the over-grooming soon.

Thanks

Me too - I'm going to try her on megazorb (it was on ECF, was originally going to get aubiose as that can be shared with the rats, but went for convenience lol) and see if that helps - they've always been on woodshavings and toilet roll problem-free, but now she's getting a bit older maybe it is causing her irritation? i hope so anyway, 'cause I can't think of any other reason :/

*shrugs*

Hopefully the change helps. I think it can just be behavioural so it might just be that though.

Beautiful pictures hun. Both of them look very happy and healthy. What colour is Mufasa if I may ask? He has such a lovely colouration to him

xx

No idea tbh - she's a hybrid but I'm not sure if anyone's determined hybrid colours? Never thought about it...she is gorgey though, and super fluffy and chubby

Silver`s mix seems to be going down really well. I so want to have my own little one again hopefully by the end of this year, but I have Boris my syrian at the moment so he is my priority for now. I do miss having a little dwarfie running in his wheel at night though.

Re: the shavings. If she`s always been on shavings Lucinda, she would have given an indication of allergy before now I would have thought. I would recommend Snowflake brand shavings. You won`t find any dust in these. I was very surprised actually as I`m no fan of shavings normally because of the work I need to do airing them off and sometimes puting them through a kitchen seive! I decided to order a bag of Snowflake shavings through my pet supplier locally and apart from the usual fresh woodshavings aroma, there is NO dust!

I actually use Aubiose now, but I do add a few handfuls of shavings (aired for a month in a BIN) to Boris`s cage from time to time us to use the shavings up having bought a bag. I couldn`t use shavings with my chinese (RIP) as she was too sneezy when exposed to savings, hence the switch to aubiose.

I would actually recommend aubiose for your ratties and the hamsters. Economically, it saves money and because I spot clean rather than do weekly full cage cleans, it goes a long way. I`m still on the bag I bought months ago from the titmuss website!

I`ve never been a fan of Carefresh or Megazorb. They are too closely matched in the way they are made which is why I opted for hemp.

They are both gorgeous! I adore my Syrian but do miss my Russians. They were like naughty little children.
