I'd like you all to meet

Barley!
So, Olive's departure left me pretty heartbroken- the most heartbroken I've ever felt. She was my best friend and was the friendliest hamster I've ever come across. Since her been gone I felt a very big void- so my dad suggested we go look on my birthday and see if any little hamsters catch my eye. So today being my birthday, off we went. Safe to say I felt completely sick because the last thing I'd ever want to do is replace Olive. We go to pets at home- I know, it's not a good place- but I got Olive from there too. I only wanted a quick glimpse of the hamsters to see if one won me over- if I looked too long then it wasn't meant to be. I took a quick look and a little hairy body immediately caught my eye. This was Barley. He was at the front of the 'cage' and looking up at me. So I chose him. As I was arranging to buy him his little mate in the same cage started attacking him- Barley laid on his back dead helpless. This made me even more happy that I was buying him. Saving him from his bully.

Barley is a very very nervous hamster. Olive was never this nervous so it's very strange having to tame a hamster like this! Anyway, I handed him a piece of toast earlier and he took it from me and nibbled it from the safety of his bed. He's now running on his wheel pretty contently. Obviously stopping and peering around at any noise- but I must remember this is all new for him!

He's got a tatty bum, almost like a skirt! So here he is, Barley!

Also i'm not really agains P@H as such.. i mean i'm against them not providing correct care information or selling correct things.. and well the "rodent farm" breeding... well i a m kind of against them but not against people buying pets from them because regardless they are giving a furry little friend a new life and a great one at that i hope

I'm so sorry about Olive, what you did for her was absolutely amazing and you should know that you made the worst experience for her the best it could possibly have been. She's a credit to you.

Awww he's gorgeous!!! Such a cutiepie! I just want to glomp him!

Give him some time to settle in and I'm sure he will come out of his shell!

He`s beautiful Jodie and I`m sure Olive will be pleased that you have given another syrian a lovely home from `that` place. I have a male and I prefer males. I`m sure Barley will settle well once he`s got used to all the pampering he`s receiving! Welcome little Barley. x
