Re: Is it possible to have a untameable hamster?
Athena my female Russian was a bit of an enigma. She was super friendly and loved company. The only chance you had to stroke her was to fill her mouth with something. She was very tame and loved to be out of her cage, as long as she could bite you.

Re: Is it possible to have a untameable hamster?
Ha ha, I part loaned a horse like that. He seemed to find it amusing to bite yet was a dream to ride. He was once placed at a show and took great delight in sinking his teeth into his owner, Dave's, arm as he accepted a prize from the Duke of Edinburgh, knowing Dave just had to grin and bear it. I was rarely short of bruises at first, although it got better as it was less fun for him when you were expecting it.

Re: Is it possible to have a untameable hamster?
I've had dancer a year this saturday, and he's recently started to become comfortable with me, if I am calm and he's naturally up, I can put my hand in his cage and he'll sit and eat on it. I've begun lifting it up and putting him back down and he's being calm about it.
I felt like he'd always be scared of me, but he's really begun to make progress the last week or so.

Re: Is it possible to have a untameable hamster?
Hamlet still doesn't like being handled. I can stroke him & give him treats, but only when he is sat on the floor. It doesn't bother me anymore as I think I was stressing him out insisting I got cuddles. He's obviously quite happy doing his own thing.
