Default Took the wheel out

We took CB's wheel out last night because he is climbing it and trying to get out at the top, which is where he escaped from last time. But this time we have put more wire mesh there to stop this happening, but he was really trying to get through the mesh so for his safety I took the wheel out so he can't get up there anymore. Would I be better off getting one of those flying saucer wheels? He's in a ZZ1 cage and the wheel he had was a 8.5". Out other hamster, Sweetie, doesn't climb her wheel, she actually uses it as a wheel so we know she's okay with that wheel, but CB is a mischievious little devil.

The only flying saucer that will be ok for an adult syrian is the 12" one which would take up most of his cage. It would definetly be better than leaving him without a wheel though.

A flying saucer is a good wheel, and I find them the quietest of what I've tried. Domino lives in a ZZ1 with a 12inch flying saucer. It does take a lot of the cage, but I also have quite a few toys and bits and pieces in there for him. Heres a pic for you to see the size

The back of the wheel (the tallest point) comes just slightly over the coloured plastic. He wouldn't be able to climb out as its not high enough and he couldn't balance on it because it spins.

Sounds perfect! Think I will get one of those and see what he makes of it. Thanks!
