Default Please help! Hamster has red skin!

My first hamster, Hunter, has reddish skin around his whiskers.. is this normal? :S his eyes, if you look REAL closely, his eye socket skin are also red!

I googled it and it seems that it may be mites.. but he seems normal.

What should I do??? I Cleaned his bin cage and still no changes

Ahh maybe I'm being too paranoid..

but it looks to me like he had reddish skin around his whiskers when I shine certain white lights at him ( bathroom lighting ) :S

Well he seems to be fine, running at 2-5 am in the morning, etcs..

But just for precaution, if he does have reddish skin, what should I do?? any ways to treat (Mites) or whatever they call it? I clean his bedding once a week and I just recently added this wooden swing into his cage, could it be he's having some allergy reaction or something since it's around his face and not his legs or anywhere else?

Also, the swing was really cheap, Found out it was some crappy wooden swing where you can rub off wood chippings off it easily..

He looks fine to me too Has he been scratching more recently?

If you aren't sure if he is OK or not just pop him a long to the vets. They will be able to tell if there is a problem or not for sure.

I think it is just because the fur is thinner around the eyes and whiskers and because he is pale in colour you see the pink skin more. When hamsters are active of warm there is more blood supply so the skin looks pinker. Just like us flushing a little when it is warm
He looks lovely.
Try not to fret and I would not treat him for mites unless he has specific symptoms and mites are definitely the cause as putting on chemicals can cause problems in itself so best avoided unless needed
He is adorable

I'd have to agree, you can rest easy as he looks perfecty normal
The usual signs for mites are flakey skin, hair loss or irritation x
