Debating getting another rescue...
It would take some cage shuffling - Apollo would be back in a Zoozone1 for a while but as he is the least active of all my hams with two extra long platforms in it I don't think he'd mind too much and the new arrival in the Igor.
But theres a Syrian in my local PaH who is hand tame but was brought back because he injured his eye and had to have it removed. He's been there about a month and it breaks my heart every week to see him in those tiny glass cages.
Just have to work on my mum for now ...

If you think you have time and space for a rescue ham, go for it

If you have the space, time and money for another ham then I'd go for it He sounds like he needs someone like you to rescue him, most people ignore pets that aren't "perfect"

Re: Debating getting another rescue...
I have the space - and spare cage b/c I wouldn't want to put him in a huuge one at the moment anyways. And both Apollo and Rocky get 20 mins in ball/play pen and swap over with 10 mins of cuddle time per night, it'd be easy to get another playpen and set them up on opposite side of my living room, quote a long way between them.
It's just convincing my mum - even though I'm 21 it's her house and I have to have permission to get any more pets.
I have a 12 inch flying saucer, a spare house, mineral stones and wood chews already, would be easy to get a couple of tubes, a water bottle, a corn-tunnel and a chew so that wouldn't be a problem.
He's in Bury - poor little guy. I hate to think he'll never have a forever home. If mum won't let me keep him I may get him and re-home him, just so he's chosen.
If I keep taking her in and showing her him if he's still there she may let me keep him hopefully! Just passed first nursing placement and physical exams so hopefully im in good graces

Re: Debating getting another rescue...
Just convincing my mum is tricky...
Even if I can re-home myself at least I know he'd have a good home and with an owner who'd look after him.
Ill see if hes in this weekend and point him out again ... hopefully, he's gorgeous!

Re: Debating getting another rescue...
Someone brought him back because he had to have an eye removed? That's so sad! I hope you get him

Re: Debating getting another rescue...
I just checked and its nearly 3 hours drive from us, so thats the temptation reduced for me (our limit on worth-it-for-a-reason driving is 2 hours and considerably less petrol, but I feel really sorry for him and am a sucker for a disabled rescue...)
Might be a good thing though. Our Alexander should stay free if possible really.
Good luck convincing your Mum!
(Yeah, my partner agrees, £50+ in petrol for a rescue ham is a bit beyond our limits... Especially when the current rule is "local rescues only with a high chance we're just pet-sitting while we find their forever home")

Re: Debating getting another rescue...
Well he's 5 months and he came back to PaH - they have their vet remove the eye so I assume that was why he was brought back - he was definitely sold and then worked his way back to them, poor mite.
I do too, just working on my mum slowly
