We did that lol
Taste-tested a hamcake and it worked just fine! (The frying pan kept scaring me by making the hamcakes bounce so I decided we'd skip pancakes for the evening and will make them tomorrow instead.)

Sam - Only had half a hamcake but if we make more tomorrow I'll eat some for you then You can eat them for yourself too but... Eating some for you gives me more pancakes

Starrylight - I know its the start of lent... I think pancake day started because people needed to use up horrible stuff like fat and such before lent, but now we just use it as an excuse to go out and buy pancake ingredients, make pancakes and eat pancakes. As me and Sam are showing... Its kinda lost the religious sentiment for most... Means we and the hams get pancakes/hamcakes though so it works

So good to see all the little poms enjoying the days festivities too

I actually live in the town where the first ever pancake race was ran, and its still a pretty big deal today too. We usually get swamped with tourists and tv crews!

The history is basically that on Shrove tuesday people would use up all their good food stuffs in the house to get ready to fast for lent. There would be (and still is) a special church service to confess all your sins before the start of lent also. The race began as many years ago one woman who was cooking up all her 'good food' heard the church bells ringing calling everyone to the service and realising she was late ran out of her house still clutching her frying pan and wearing her apron and ran all the way to the church. You can check out our lovely website if you like Pancake Race History

I actually confess to not having made any pancakes this year, practially illegal given where I live lol! I might do some on my nest da yoff though. Will be good to see how my hams like them
