Default Cats & Hamsters

I haven't brought this topic up before as I wasn't sure how owning cats would go down on a hamster forum

But as I have let the cat out of the bag so to speak on another thread, here are the other two members of the household!

Here is Precious-cat (the name is hyphenated ) We went all the way down to Bedfordshire 2 years ago to pick her up. She had been left for many months in a rescue whilst all the other cats were taken, because she was as described to me "boring black & white" and because she was extremely timid and frightened of human contact.

This was not really surprising as a police officer had brought her in as she had been found in a London drug den when it was raided. She has many old injuries that were never treated by a vet including her tail which has 3 separate breaks and her back which the vet says may have been due to her being kicked.

When we got her she hid under the tv cabinet for 6 weeks and we never saw her but her food would disappear over night. I spent many a night sat next to the TV cabinet reading her stories and nursery rhymes to get her used to my voice - good job no one but OH saw me!

She is now the loveliest, cuddliest, affectionate cat you could ever wish for

This is Zhukov - he is a Russian Blue, who came to us via a family who wanted rid due to allergy. He was extremely ill when we got him and everyone wondered whether he would make his first birthday, we and the vet thought he had leukemia, however £450 and 2 months later we discovered he had severe food allergies. We were able to deal with these and he is now an extremely! lively young cat

Not hamsters I know but the felines were feeling left out

Hope I can still have another hammy, now I've owned up

I also have cats, as other people may have realised ...
I've just realised that I don't have any good (and current) photos of my cats on my laptop!
I also know that Bourne Valley Hamsters have 5(?) cats and they told me that many hamster breeders that they know also have cats.

We have two cats, a large ginger tom called Kennedy and a small tort called Cidie. Cidie never bothers the hams but Kennedy would love to bother them. They do not get in the hammy room but can see the hams when supervised. We also have a German Sheperd dog who is somewhat afraid of the hams but fascinated.
Your kitties are gorgeous Catya and look very contented.

We have a kitty too (well, two actually, but one is on our allotment...long story, we didn't take her there, she found us, is/was a stray etc).

A lot of us have cats on here Catja.
Precious-cat is so lovely - how can a Postman Pat cat be boring? I'm glad she has found a loving home with you. She looks a such a happy, cuddly cat in that photo.
As for Zuchov, he looks very regal and beautiful. Love his eyes. I am a sucker for any oriental cat though. I bet he owns you.

This is my Oscar, he is 12 years old next month. He is 3/4 persian, 1/4 siamese.

I'm another catty (ha!) person, Catja - here's ours (actually I get the disticnt impression he thinks we are his), he's called Harry and he was a feral kitten when we got him at the age of five weeks (CPL told us to take him that young as it was his only chance of becoming tame). He's now a lap cat (when he wants to be) as well as very outdoorsy and independent.

Yup Im another cat person too. We have 3 (it was 4 but we recently lost our lovely 'boring black and white' boy Smudge. We also have a British Blue - who looks like your Zuchov if you filled him up with helium! lol (apart from her orange eyes).
They are both beautiful and look extremely contented - they are obviously happy to let you live with them
