Re: How long do they live?
It would be interesting if someone ever decideds to work all the max - minimums and averages out for each gender and breed! I keep thinking about doing it but dont know if I can face it tbh

Re: How long do they live?
I am on my first ham. He is a year old and I'm already worrying how !'m going to take it when he passes. He is such a good boy. He is so happy and well-behaved. I can't see ever getting anybody as good as him again

Re: How long do they live?
I feel the same with my Sen, RC. It's going to be tough, but it is unfortunately inevitable. :'( Being a part of HC will help (in a teeny tiny way) with any sadness that comes your way, as you are amongst fellow hamster lovers and we all care deeply about every hamster we're introduced to and share your pain in any loss.
In the mean time, I am thankful for moments I get to spend with Sen, and getting to know everyone else's hamsters, so that their lives are not wasted or forgotten. Them having such short life spans is also a good excuse to give them lots of treats/toys and cuddles. It's always fun to spoil them. Try not to dwell on any sadness to come, but to celebrate the time they spend here with us before they pass on to the rainbow bridge in the sky. *hug*

see that's what I'm afraid of... that I will just find him dead. Since I am a new hamster owner, if that should happen, I would of course blame myself and wonder what I did wrong, and blame my inexperience, whether it is warranted or not.
I'm sorry about your little fella. Sometimes He has different plans

Yeah he was my first, and i completely blamed myself!! but he was fed, watered, got playtime and was happy and appeared healthy. There was nothing more i could do for him, it was just his time. That's what you have to remember
but now im completely paranoid with my new one, I panic if he doesnt stick his nose out of his house straight away when i open the cage!! xx
