Re: How long do they live?
Has this thread been used to mark any trends etc? I work in data so could whip some charts up if that'd be useful?

Re: How long do they live?
Wow, some really did live three or four years so it is possible. I was never so lucky, though but I think you re right with the male/female pattern:
I go chronologically, too:
Mona - Female Teddy: 1 year 11 months
Otto - Male Teddy: 2 years exactly, ran away on his birthday
James - Male Albino 1 year 1 month - brain tumour
Betty Female Syrian: 1 year 10 months- old age
Kaethe Female Syrian: 1 year 8 months - old age
Ernie Male Syrian 1 year 11 months - old age
Stephen Patrick -Teddy: 2 years 1 month - stroke (although I do have the feeling he may have been older when I got him as the pet shop said he was 12 weeks when I got him but he seemed older than that) Boo, I still get sad when I think of him

Re: How long do they live?
I have had 2 winter white russian dwarves and 1 syrian.
One dwarf -male- lived 1 year and 3 months and died from tumour in his abdomen.
The second dwarf -male- lived 9 months and died from wet tail.
The syrian -female- lived only 2 months and sadly I didn't know the reason . She looked completely normal.

Re: How long do they live?
Well my two syrians are still alive so I'll say how long my old Russian dwarf hamsters lived.
Jessie-Female-6 months. I am not sure why she died suddenly but it was heart breaking.
Hermy-Female-2 years 1 month.

Re: How long do they live?
Rosie: Syrian, female, 2 1/2 years, old age
Poppy: Syrian, female, 6 months, unknown reason
Poppy's death was completely sudden. The night before she was doing normally but the next day she was in her igloo and she was gone. It was awful! I wish I just knew what had happened to her

Re: How long do they live?
Milo, male russian dwarf, died at about 3 years old, old age/possible tumour (local pet shop)
Magoo, female syrian, died at 18 months from pyometra (local pet shop)
Deigo, male russian dwarf, died at 4 weeks from Kidney failure (pets at home)
Was gutted about Magoo, I believe she would have recovered had the vets given her antibiotics when I took her in, and Diego just had bad genetics
