They still have a small minimum but it's so much better than normal! Maybe we're starting to head the right way? I was so excited to see that they had some good recombination.

It is nice! I wish more people read it. Wakefield is in my state Anyway, I think they have to give "reasonable" sizes that people wouldn't gasp at and say "no way, that's just crazy", because of all the small cages in stores, which condition the notion that hamsters do not need much for happiness. It's a step in the right direction. I believe change should be brought on by gradual positive reinforcement and good enticing examples of happy hamsters in beautiful habitats.

On that note, I know hamsters are often purchased by parents for children and then refused bigger housing because parents consider it "ugly". Well, there should be more "advertising" of non-ugly terrarium style housing that actually makes a room look good, like a well decorated aquarium. I strive to make my hamsters' habitats look good so visitors are usually impressed rather than saying "omg hamsters lol".

Well you live with your parents still, so I'm saying it could be in their interest to help with making a cage look good if they don't like how it looks and refuse an upgrade. As a hypothetical situation. I see it as "under 18 means patents should be ultimately responsible for ensuring a pet's wellbeing ". It's not like a 13 year old can find a couple hundred dollars for a vet visit, etc. Same goes for a good cage.

We're not far away from eachother! There's a wakefield in my state too And I used to commute to the Mass boarder for clinicals all the time. I didn't know there were other hamster enthusists around here! lol

Anyway, back to the topic...The site is nice, but I have to say the small sizes listed are unfortunate because a parent of a child or teen with hamsters will read the Humane society website and say that it's not necessary to upgrade to a bigger cage. They're viewed as a trusted and reputable resource.
